The Global Missions Team coordinates our support of missionaries around the world. We believe that a great commitment to the great commission and the great commandment will build a great Church throughout the world.
We support missionaries working in Chile, India, Indonesia and Zimbabwe. We also support a few missionaries based in the United States whose work focuses on overseas missions. In addition to direct support of missionaries and their families, we also support missions work through periodic gifts for capital projects—most recently in India and Haiti—and for hunger relief. In addition, we respond to critical needs such as earthquake relief with timely gifts of funds.
The team coordinates short-term mission trips, most recently to Haiti. These trips give church members the opportunity to experience missions personally. Participants raise funds for their own travel expenses, while the Global Missions Team provides funds for projects and materials used during the trip.
The Elders have committed to funding global missions by tithing—setting aside ten percent of weekly offerings for global missions. This is a sacrificial level of giving that models how individuals are called to return a portion of their income to the Lord.
The Global Mission Team is composed of a handful of church members who have a heart for missions. We are organized with each team member acting as the liaison to two or three of our mission partners. In this way, our team stays in close contact with the missionaries we support, communicating with them and bringing their prayer needs to the attention of the team and the congregation as a whole.
