Family?
I have 2 kids (Melissa Gilbert who is married to Jimmy, and Jason) and 1 sweet, cute and precious granddaughter (Hannah). Buddy, my dog and Sweetie, my cat.
Ministry/ Professional background?
Received a 2 year Church Secretarial Certificate from Johnson Bible College (when shorthand, typewriters, and mimeograph machines were still the rage). I had 10 years office experience prior to coming to work at Northwest part-time, and then began full-time at NWCC in 2001.
Favorite book/music/TV show/movie?
Favorite authors are James Patterson and Nicholas Sparks. My favorite movie is Gone with the Wind. Favorite TV -- Braves games, House, NCIS, but Braves games trump everything!
What do you like to do for fun/in your spare time?
Beach trips, going to a Braves game, and spend-the-nights with my granddaughter!
What do you like best about working at NWCC/what brought you here?
I had been a “stay at home” mom with home daycare for 10+ years. In 1997 my youngest had just entered Middle School and Northwest was looking for someone to share a job in the office and I was interested in a part-time job. The timing was perfect for me, and it eventually became full-time job in 2001. I love working at NWCC because of the people here—we really have a great staff and volunteers as well.
What is your philosophy of ministry/why do you do what you do/what are you passionate about in your ministry?
I enjoy working behind the scenes to help things run as smoothly as possible by providing whatever administrative support is needed. My philosophy regarding my job comes from Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
